DIY Guitars Has Closed – Mostly

As I wrote a couple of months ago, we have decided to close DIY Guitars. It is no longer possible to order from this site. Here are a few final points:

  • At time of writing, we are running over a week behind with some orders. These will be fulfilled or if that’s not possible, we will be in contact with you shortly.
  • We still have a lot of kits and parts in stock. As time permits, these will be listed on our eBay store. I recommend you select the follow button so you’ll get notified when items are added.
  • I do have a few items that don’t really suit eBay well, so I will have to think about how to sell those. This includes the 335 hollow style with burl top. Join the newsletter and/or follow the Facebook Page to be notified.
  • Some of you specifically bought stuff to help us out. Others sent us supportive emails. I really appreciate it – thanks.

Is this the end?

I can’t say yes for sure. A huge amount of effort went into getting this off the ground and we felt that we got the range just about right. It’s incredibly frustrating to see this work come to nothing. There would need to be significant changes to re-launch and at this point I can’t say if I will have the time, money and energy to make this happen. My focus right now is helping my boy beat cancer and other work.

Thanks again for your support.

Richard became addicted to the Internet back in 1993. After building websites for others for 16 1/2 years, it was time to work on some of his own projects including DIY Guitars. However it's the team that makes things happen - thanks Trent and Tina - couldn't do it without you.

  1. Richard,

I am sad it has come to this. I really hope that Charlie beats his cancer and loves a happy and full life. Family is the most important thing we have.

Thank you for sharing with us.

  2. Hey Richard,

Names is John, and I am passionate, active, and novice guitar builder. Been at it for about a year and a half, and have definitely found I spend more time building than playing these days it seems. Oh well..not worst thing.

    Anyways…

I came across your site for 1st time…and was sorry to see that you are no longer in operation and some of the unfortunate reasons why…

I hope you and your family are doing well and all are in good health, and things have since become a little less stressful…and will continue to get better with every day..

I know …your thinking who is this weird dude giving a shout out….?

Just someone who believes in positive energy and charma, as well as a friend of anyone that respects the luthier arts…

Hope to see you back at it sometime soon…

    Thanks,

    John
